We have been a dance school working with people with disabilities for seven years; the school is owned by an international model who has travelled globally advocating for disability. We offer classes to 300 people with disabilities weekly in Australia and we would like to come to New Zealand and offer workshops for people with disabilities.
Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes
We have 42 classes a week offering dance, drama and drumming for people with disabilities. We have also travelled globally advocating and speaking to governments on how to change people mindset on disabilities.
Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice
We feel that a lot of schools and students will be given opportunities, and we want to make sure the disability community is also represented and advocated for. Years of experience in this field allows us to offer dance classes and workshops that are safe, nurturing and educational.
