I am a painter. I have been working as an artist since graduating from Elam in 1991. My work is used often in the secondary school curriculum as an artist model. I also teach children 5 to 18 from my studio. I feel I have a lot of experience in teaching and have a great rapport for children and teenagers.

I have been a practicing and exhibiting artist for 32 years. I had my first part time teaching position at 22 and went on to teach part time at Diocesan, St Kentigern Prep and Kings School. In 2011 I began teaching my own art classes from my studio and currently teach 40 children in different classes each week, catering for children from 5 through to 18. I have extensive teaching experience.
Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes
I have taught children from 5 to 18 with emphasis on drawing, painting and pottery. I have also taught adults privately and at night school at a College of Arts. I work in oil and mixed media. I have also taught Art History classes to adults privately but also weave this knowledge into classes with children so that they begin to have an understanding of different art movements and important artists.
Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice
As I am already being utilised as an artist model I would like to make myself available to collaborate with art teachers in schools. I enjoy collaborative projects with students and other teachers.
