My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths)

I'm an actor, writer, performance artist, and acting coach. I've worked as a theatremaker creating both scripted and devised work. I'm also an acting and performance coach, supporting students to develop embodied performances using physical access to emotion rather than a psychological process of memories and thoughts. I'm interested in empowering students to communicate clearly and effectively and to prioritise their mental health in the performing arts. More information is available on request.

I'm an award-winning actor, writer, and performance artist. My latest interactive live artwork completed a critically praised national tour. I've delivered several acting workshops to schools across New Zealand. Alongside my professional performance work, I'm a youth speech and drama and acting coach. I have a BA in Psychology and Theatre Studies, and was trained at The Actors' Program. 

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes

I've worked as a speech and drama teacher with children and delivered acting workshops to high-school students. Performing with less tension and stress and more ease, allowing your authentic self to come out, and mindfully and safely working with emotions in performance are particular themes in my teaching work. 

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice

Teaching and coaching are a large part of my creative practice. I'm always excited to work with students eager to explore their creativity and artistic craft.
