My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths)

I am a multi-disciplinarian creative and I enjoy creating in many different styles/genre. I very much enjoy mixed media in all I do and like to have a focus on reusing previously handled items such as papers and natural items. I also enjoy book making by way of creating journals from covers, pages, embellishments, journaling and binding. Simple clay works is another area I enjoy. Pictures of some creations from clay that were then fired in a home pit are available on request, as well as a link to my Instagram account. I feel I am flexible enough in my art to be able to create a programme that fits with your needs.

My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with

I am a practising creative and have recently completed my Level 5 Diploma of Creativity with the Learning Connection. I have always created whether it has been sculpture, painting, or visual arts. I am currently an Activities Co-Ordinator at a rest home and have a weekly creative class that I design for our residents best utilising their abilities and the conversations it will spark together. We work on both individual and collaborative pieces.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes

I am currently an Activities Co-Ordinator at a rest home and have a weekly creative class that I design for our residents. I enjoy working with young people and the elderly and feel I am able to engage their minds while nurturing their abilities. When my children were younger I taught craft/art classes at their school occasionally. I also have grandchildren and love teaching them new crafts/arts whenever I can. I am a compassionate caring person who is genuinely interested in my pupils achieving their goals and harnessing their emotions through art and the written word.

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice

I would like to be part of the Creatives In Schools programme to help to bring mindful practices to students that will allow them to use the other side of their brain; to gain some pride in creating an item on their own and in their own style. Allowing them some quiet time to just create and not overthink the process. I would also like to bring a sense of cooperation where we would also work on larger projects as a group and to collaborate with each other to bring it to fruition. I would like to bring back crafts/arts back as a creative outlet for students to learn in a safe, non-judgemental space where the outcome is aesthetic but the input is emotions/experiences. My personal creative practice always benefits teaching others as I too am always learning from students and love to see them thrive.
