My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths)

We are both experienced secondary Art teachers with overseas and national experience. I have been HOD Art specialising in painting, photography and design to Year 13 and can deliver programmes to Year 13. I am currently working with international online students applying for tertiary entrance to various international art schools. When not teaching I continue to pursue my interests in creating art such as environmental sculpture and mixed media portraiture. A link to see some students'
examples is available on request.

My colleague is an experienced middle and senior school Art teacher, having taught internationally, delivering Cambridge UK exam based programmes to GCSE and A LEVEL. She is also a practising artist selling commissioned works, online prints and, more recently, selling various printed fabric products. In 2019 she was awarded a scholarship to undertake a Diploma in Creativity through the Learning Connexion and was awarded the "Peoples' Choice" at the graduating exhibition. Pre-Covid, she took a group of art students to a rural school in Cambodia annually and is still involved in the school based charity helping Penan sell their woven products. A link to her website is available on request.

My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with

We are teachers so we have met the kinds of requirements needed to be Creatives in Schools practitioners.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes

We began teaching art workshops during school holidays in the 90's. They proved very popular and this led into other projects with students, such as murals or large collaborative works. Both of us have taken adult community night classes, and my colleague continued to be the Art teacher for a local group of home schoolers for a number of years. She also had a period working at a Learning Centre teaching Art to at-risk teenagers not in the school system. We both have worked with primary and secondary age students. The workshops that were run were thematically based which the students loved, for example, "Art out of this World" was a series of activities using art from different cultures around the globe. We can tailor a package or programme around a theme, either with consulting the school, or provide our own themes.

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice

We enjoy working with students, seeing them create something new and creating as a rewarding experience. As teachers, our involvement will link to our own practice using the creative process and work based on the use and understanding of the Elements of Art, the ideas and skills that underpin Art creations.
