My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with

Kia ora I am a practicing moko artist as well as full time art lecturer that holds a C PBRF research grade within tertiary studies. I am currently The Takitimu link designer and artist for Wakakotahi on this project, which is working alongside all the iwi of Ngati Ranginui, and the Hapu of Pirirakau. I have featured on many gallery exhibitions within the Bay of Plenty region. I am currently working on installations for the Tauranga City Council where I will have eight works installed for the new Tauranga City Library, which will serve as a cultural narrative for people of Tauranga.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes

I am primary trained and taught at that level for eight years. I also taught two years at secondary school where I am currently an art lecturer for a Bachelor of Creative Industries. I have worked in the art-field with tamariki from primary through to adult learners. I have taken my practice around the world representing Aotearoa in such places as Tahiti, London, Italy, Amsterdam, and China, just to name a few international shows that I have worked on.

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice

To help inspire our tamariki with our own cultural narratives. Be a role model that reflects life as a creative, and prove that the pathway of being a creative is one that can be not only fulfilling, but successful as well.
