My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths):
I am an interdisciplinary artist with a French fashion design diploma. I am a printmaker, visual artist making digital photo collage, World of Wearable Art designer (finalist 10 times in 10 years), and contemporary jewellery artist. My practice is as non-toxic as it can be – I ethically source all material. Sustainability and environmentalism are a total part of my ethic.
I have been involved in many group shows and community projects when I can help, with my skills translating/expressing messages, including a hand medal project, global world project, mentoring kids for a WOW project (save the sea), ‘Keeping abreast’ (breast cancer), printmaking, and a project saving land from coal mining touring Australia.
Visual art: My main medium is perspex. It allows works in large scale with striking colours.
- photography – Photoshop
- ten times finalist of the World of WearableArt Awards, twice awarded garments in perspex
- printmaking – solar plate etchings and dry point on perspex non-toxic techniques
- jewellery – handmade silversmithing and costume jewellery talking about Aotearoa.
My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with:
I have won (and been a finalist) for many national and international awards, including drawing, sculpture, wearable arts, printmaking, and jewellery. I have also had many exhibitions. I have mentored children on a WOW project at a local school. Further information is available on request.
Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes:
In 2019, I was blessed to be part of a project with a local primary school mentoring the children in making a wearable art catwalk. In France, I taught fashion design to young adults (15–20 years old) for 4 years.
Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice:
After being in New Zealand for 18 years, I feel I am totally part of the community, and I want to give back. I want to share my multidisciplinary ablilities as an artist and open children’s minds to the notion of craft-art in an interdisciplinary way.
