My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths):

Initially my creative journey began within the art of tā moko, specifically contributing to the resurgence of customary tools and practices. Tā moko has provided many opportunities to understand other creative disciplines such as printmaking, painting, sculpture, installation, and design.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes:

  • Currently I am a tutor for Maunga Kura Toi teaching adults
  • 2019 - ACE (Adult Community Education) – ran woodblock printing workshop
  • 2018 – Te Kapehu Whetu – ran a creative workshop for year 8 students

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice:

School is where I became aware of my own creative abilities. At that stage all I really had access to was pen and paper, so it is exciting to be in a position to share with the younger generation what is possible in a creative atmosphere.
