My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths):
Kia ora. I’m a practitioner in theatre, nga toi whakaari, taakaro, nga mahi o Reehia. I trained as an actor, te reo Māori in Te Ataarangi, Mau rakau (Māori martial arts) and have directed, written, and facilitated in drama for more than 12 years. I tutor with a Māori worldview in the methodology of performing arts for stage and public space. Building confidence in being in the body tinana, hinengaro, mindfulness, taakaro playfulness.
I use both te reo and English but can deliver in te reo anake mena he kura kaupapa. I’m also an artist in kōwhaiwhai, and movement including hatha yoga. I love to collaborate with other artists – I work with painters, musicians, choreographers, and film-makers.

I trained at Toi Whakaari and have been a practising artist for more than 20 years. I still make work, facilitate, and collaborate in my art practice – this is my mahi. I can partner with artists who are practitioners. I have worked all over Aotearoa, Te Waipounamu in kura kaupapa, mainstream, and in Finland.
Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes:
I have worked in kura kaupapa, wānanga, contemporary dancing with methodology, Toi Ngāpuhi, and written and directed with Taki Rua. I have run workshops in Finland.
Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice:
I want to work in my community and inspire storytelling with performing arts.
