My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths):

I specialise in colour and pattern and upholding the mana of my tupuna in the way I include the symbolism of my whakapapa. I am a painter and weaver and a qualified teacher of 30+ years of experience teaching toi from early childhood to tertiary. I have built a whānau business in toi and share my passion for creativity on a daily basis within our community.

My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with:

I live by a code of conduct that is about creating a better future for my future mokopuna, and so walking the talk and maintaining my passion for toi and being in a space where I can share toi is ultimate for my growth as a creative native and also for the community I serve. I believe every opportunity is as it is meant to be and that sometimes we have to be totally organic and let the flow of collaboration present the journey that is. Trust in the enjoyment of the process and the relationships that blossom from the mahi we do.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes:

I have a diverse range of skills working with people and tamariki – I am a people person and more information is available on request.

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice:

I am interested in this programme as it is one way we can share the love of what we do in a way that upholds the mana of the people and the takiwa.
