Project Information:
The aim of our project is to create a collection of artworks that represent the Tikanga of our local area and schools through the lens of our Kahui Ako. The artworks will be designed by students in collaboration with a contemporary artist who specialises in the art of storytelling. He specialises in graphics that are simple, clear, and relatable, using public areas, walls, any spaces to interact with. He visualises the world as a playground for creating art.
We will create a collection of images that embody the unique and diverse identities of our tamariki. A visual connection between the schools will be established; these artworks will unify ACCOS and build a shared identity. The artworks will be designed and created by students. Each school will have its own unique collection of graphics that reflects the unique identities, cultures, and histories of the school. For example, Auckland Normal Intermediate may develop an artwork that encapsulates the challenges of losing the school hall to a fire in 2019. Although the graphics will vary from school to school, they will ultimately be linked through a consistent visual style that is facilitated by the creative professional and lead teacher.
Project starting: February 2023
