I am available to the wider Wellington/Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt regions.

My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths)

I am an emerging visual artist from Lower Hutt. My creative practice focuses primarily on using Impressionist, Pointillist, realistic and contemporary elements to interpret visual stimuli. My preferred media include (but are not limited to) graphite, charcoal, soft pastels, pastel pencils, acrylics, water colours and oil paints.

My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with

I have been involved in more than a dozen exhibitions including representing New Zealand in international collaborative exhibitions in Spain and Portugal. I have also been accepted into an artist residency programme in France (September 2020) and am being considered for one in Italy immediately before or after the French one. I am involved in other international collaborative projects in Europe and have a pre-existing relationship with a primary school where I have taught art both in the classroom and in the Holiday Programme.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes

I have worked for a primary school in various capacities off and on since 2008. I regularly teach art during holiday programmes and have been involved in guiding the children through the design process for what installations they would like to see around the school.

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice

I would like to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme because I feel that art and creativity should be an integral part of children's learning. I love sharing knowledge with curious minds and watching the development of life-skills and confidence in children. This programme offers the opportunity to achieve that and provide sustainability to creatives which is greatly needed. This venture would benefit the children, local community, and an artist. It is an exciting prospect. Having existing positive and established relationships with the staff and children of a primary school, I am looking to work collaboratively with them to link visual art with the science, Enviroschools, and sustainability work the school is undertaking in 2020.
