My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths)

I am an Italian/Croatian-born, New Zealand artist. My creative practice encompasses painting and installation with collaborative and participatory projects, and co-directing projects. These projects cultivate relationships between people, art and nature through creating works from soils and natural pigments. One project has engaged over 10,000 people in collaborative art-making through public art exhibitions producing large-scale site-specific installations across New Zealand, Australia and Italy.

I am interested in investigating collaborative and participatory social practices, particularly bridging the gap between generations by engaging elderly people in retirement villages and school children. Notions of space, local and global, ecology, impermanence and human interactions are explored with the aim to create an empathetic interaction between people, art and nature. A link to my website is available on request.

My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with

My CV is available on request.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes

I have worked as a community artist and arts facilitator for the past 10 years, creating and managing participatory and community art projects. This has given me experience in working with a range of schools and diverse population communities, including youth at risk through a Trust, a studio (name redacted), primary, intermediate and secondary education, the elderly through retirement villages, diverse cultural groups such as indigenous and adults with disabilities. I also teach art in after school classes and holiday programmes.

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice

The Creatives in School programme is matching the work I have been carrying out already in schools and the community for several years now. This programme would further my creative practice and enable projects with its funding and connecting platform.
