Normandale School
Region: Wellington
Art form: Visual Arts
Project name: Uniquely Normandale
Creative name: Christen Stewart
Project information: The Uniquely Normandale project will support children to create a mural reflecting our bilingual school values and what makes our school unique. We also want to share our Enviroschools and school journey through a series of pou. We encourage our students to connect with their place and its people, in line with the Enviroschools kaupapa. This project will support the children to be confident and connected to our local area. The students will be actively involved in the project that hopes to develop skills and attitudes that will support them to be lifelong learners.
Using visual art as a medium we will create a mural to portray the unique character of Normandale School. Our creative will help students develop their ideas to represent their connection to the area with particular focus on our school values. She will help them develop their artistic skills and their ability to realise their vision to collaboratively design a mural and pou.
Normandale School is committed to enhancing our learning environment through visual arts. This project would build a platform for visual art development in the school and would support further art projects through developing staff, student and whanau skills and confidence. It would showcase the student’s talent and ideas. Having the visual representation of the values would support the school in its PB4L journey by acting as a playground reminder of what makes us ‘Uniquely Normandale’ and what is important to us.
