Art form: Multi-Disciplinary
Project name: Waitakere College Arts and Culture Festival 2021
Project information: Waitakere College has a longstanding tradition of holding an annual Arts and Culture Week where visual, performing and cultural arts are celebrated in many different ways throughout the school.
We will bring our creative onboard to lead the Arts and Culture Council through Arts and Culture Week as well as event manage Waitakere College’s 2021 Arts and Culture Awards. We want this to be an empowering and rich learning experience for the students involved. We will achieve this by keeping the student-lead aspect of the Arts and Culture Council, with her passing on her knowledge so that the experience can act as an internship for the students involved. The Year 13 students in the Arts and Culture Council will be able to learn about events programming and potentially see this type of work as a viable career path. For younger students, they will be able to pick up skills and strategies to run Arts and Culture Week/Arts and Culture Awards in years to come. Our kaupapa is to pass on knowledge, systems and skills that will enable the Arts and Culture Council to sustainably lead itself into the future.
