Region: Hawke’s Bay / Tairāwhiti
Art form: Multi-Disciplinary / Performing Arts
Project name: Aumangea Project
Project information: The Aumangea Project is about supporting, developing and encouraging our tamariki to be brave, bold and build resilience. In today's society students face many challenges that can affect their social and emotional well-being. The Aumangea Project will assist teachers, students and whānau to build tools that can assist them to create solutions in many different social contexts.
Having the creatives work alongside our lead teacher to develop engaging activities using drama practices is effective. The Lead teacher can then share this knowledge with other staff to build confidence in using drama practices in the classroom. Allowing students to respond to the work of Kahurangi is a powerful modelling tool for tamariki in our school. To be able to create a presentation that will be performed at Toitoi – Hawke's Bay Arts and Events Centre will be a life-long memory for all those involved.
Other schools involved: Camberley School / Pukehou School
