Corinna School
Region: Wellington
Art form: Multi-Disciplinary / Dance
Project name: VAI
Project information: Many of our students have a passion for the performing arts. Our learners will be supported to explore concepts of identity, place and culture through dance and drama. We felt it was important to engage with practitioners who reflect the cultural identities of our students.
Using an inquiry approach, our learners will be encouraged to ask questions and develop their own artistic ideas around the concepts. Our project is intentionally open-ended so that our learners can authentically use their voice to shape the creative process. Rather than having a predetermined idea of where the learning must go, we use big ideas, conceptual understandings and student inquiry to guide.
In all learning that we do, we focus on building student voice, identity, and agency. This collaboration explores through dance and drama the following idea; “Know who you are. Be who you are. Show who you are."
Project starting: April 2021
