Christchurch East School
Region: Canterbury
Art form: Craft / Object
Project name: Rekindle at Christchurch East
Project information: Christchurch East School and Rekindle will work together involving all Year 3 to 8 students at the school. Rekindle’s ethos fits with our focus on a sustainable and future-focused curriculum, which includes aspects of Nature Play and has at its heart the wellbeing of our students.
The project will begin with class visits to the Rekindle workspace and then be followed by three main elements:
- Tī Kōuka string and rope making lessons for all students.
- A greenwood working project involving students creating tools/gear needed for greenwood working.
- A multi-craft project involving Tī Kōuka string making, greenwood working and wool felting; this will allow all children to contribute to a large-scale artwork that will be hung in the new school buildings.
Project starting: March 2021
