Project information:  Our aim is strengthen the cultural identity of the students at our school. We want to give voice to our students and their families, and give them an opportunity to share their story and journey. The process will be authentic and student-centred, to raise cultural awareness in our school and community. Tūrangawaewae means 'a place to stand' which emphasises the importance of kinship and whakapapa. This project will capture the importance of knowing who you are and where you are from. The project will enable students and families to share their story, knowledge, and aspirations using digital technologies and the creative arts - song writing, music, dance, visual arts, and film production. The educational aims of this project are to embrace the Te Whare Tapa Whā model, with a specific focus on recognising the importance of taha wairua, spiritual health, in schools. The project will provide multiple opportunities for students to develop key competencies through collaboration and differentiated learning experiences.
