My practice is in producing site-specific emerging media and digital arts experiences to support learning and connection to place. Projects include work with augmented reality mobile applications, interactive sound experiences and large-scale projection. I have extensive experience working in this area including work with primary schools. Please see my website for details.

I have specialised training and experience including a PhD in Creative Technology and eleven years working and teaching in this practice in New Zealand and internationally. I have had extensive media coverage of our work representing critical success and recognition from peers and have also delivered successful programmes to and within schools. I have taught creative technology at tertiary level.
Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes
Our creative technology production company has delivered workshops to and worked within school contexts on a number of occasions. I have nearly 29 years of facilitation, training and development experience working with all age levels. Most recently (the last 11 years) this has been in creative contexts. I have formally taught youth at tertiary level for over 10 years as a lecturer and worked with (mainly) primary children via our company's projects. Our themes involve connecting to place, playing in the space between the digital and physical worlds and stimulating the imagination to see something more than what meets the eye.
Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice
I have worked with schools in South Auckland but have yet to do any specific projects with schools in the Northland area (now that we have relocated here). Our practice is about place and schools are often at the heart of communities. We are looking for projects which creatively connect prescribed curricula, creative technology and the notion of the 'spirit of place'. I am interested in experiences which support learning about and connection to the places where children live.
