My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths)

My creative practice and specific focus is utilising technology effectively in the creation space. I have been in the technology space for over 8 years and have developed and worked with students and teachers and building their capacity to utilise technology effectively and creatively. I have done classroom digital creativity sessions and videos. My professional practice includes an MOE approved Technology Facilitator in 4 areas and Teacher of 14 years fully registered.

My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with

Kia ora koutou katoa. I have achieved a degree of critical success and recognition from experts in my field by becoming a Ministry of Education approved Technology Facilitator in 4 fields after a successful career as a classroom teacher for 14 years. I have successfully implemented school-wide pedagogy shifts utilising technology effectively for over seven years. I have successfully implemented projects and facilitated sessions with schools in Hawke's Bay and the Central Region and currently work with over 20 schools in Hawke's Bay facilitating technology. I specialise in digital creativity in the technology space and I have created a digital creative hub to grow the digital and creative space with the ability to learn at any time, at any pace, in any space without the need for a teacher of technology specialist for students to access for free. Students will learn both digital fluency and digital creativity by developing and designing their own digital designs, animation, film, music, content, art pieces, phone apps, websites and lots more in our digi-creative projects.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes

I am a qualified and trained teacher of 14 years and currently work in school settings in New Zealand as an MOE-approved Technology Facilitator. I have a fully registered practicing teaching certification registered until 2022.

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice

I want to be a part of the Creatives in Schools programme to develop students' potential to be digitally creative in today's technological era. There are so many opportunities to be artistic and expressive through technology with the readily available and accessible tools that students can use and access in the classroom and from home. My involvement in the Creatives in Schools programme will link to my current work in schools developing digital fluency with the capacity and capability to develop digital creativity with students as well.
