My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths)

I have Māori, English, Scottish, and German ancestry. I draw upon my indigenous roots as a foundation for creativity and innovation. Known for my attention to detail and application of tools and technology, I am regarded as one of our leading contemporary Māori artists. My four-year degree was in Visual Communications and Design, and I have received many awards from an Art and Design career that spans nearly thirty years. I am currently living with my whānau in the Bay of Plenty. I enjoy working
as a creative in the fields of advertising and design, as an arts educator, and creating iconic contemporary New Zealand art.

My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with

I have had various residencies and exhibitions in New Zealand and internationally. Request my complete profile to find out more about these.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes

Over the duration of my professional career, I have been a tutor of Digital Illustration at Massey University and a Tutor of Digital Media at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi. I have also delivered numerous creative workshops and presentations over the years, working with arts organisations and local Eastern Bay of Plenty Schools.

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice

The Creatives in Schools programme will allow me to build on years of experience, to work more closely with local schools in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, and to develop quality learning experiences that complement our cultural and socio-economic environment.
