My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths)

We specialise in intercultural arts work through the Active Citizens programme. Active Citizens is a social leadership programme which promotes intercultural dialogue and social responsibility as key leadership competencies in the 21st century. The 3-day programme workshops self-awareness and identity, global and local issues, community-led social development and social action plans. These workshops teach aspiring social leaders to take responsibility for solving community issues and accelerating social enterprise, while giving them the knowledge, skills and experience to do so.

Active Citizens facilitators become creative change agents in their community. We are the delivery partner for the Active Citizens Programme in New Zealand. The international British Council programme is run in 68 countries around the world, with 250,000 Active Citizens trained.

My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with

We are a team of facilitators with many years’ experience in workshopping and consulting in creative practice both in New Zealand and overseas. We aim to instil confidence in creative practice, identity/self-perception, and a toolkit for positive personal and community change.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes

We have had a number of year 13s through the Active Citizens programme and have received constant feedback on how eye-opening and empowering the course is for those who are about to leave school for the wider world.

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice

We want to provide this amazing training for FREE to more school leavers.
