My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths)

We have both have been actors with a theatre company in Auckland, We've also been mentors and tutors for them and for the collaboration community theatre workshops we run. We've just finished a six-week mentoring programme. We specialise in theatre performance and mentoring. The style of theatre we do is physical theatre and are experts at devised theatre and creating work from stories.

My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with

We are theatre professionals with over 25 years of combined experience in tutoring and performing both nationally and internationally. We trained with some of the industry's great and are both versatile actors. One of us has just finished a sell-out show in Auckland, written by a well-known English scriptwriter and actor. He was also a cast member in another collaboration that toured New Zealand and also performed at the Royal court Theatre in London. He has been a part of a theatre company since he was 16 (he is now 43). Our other tutor has been a part of Pop-up Globe for the past three seasons in Auckland and Melbourne.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes

We've been involved with youth for the past 15 years with a theatre company. They did a collaboration in schools around Auckland and at the end all the schools involved did a big show. This was a collaboration with theatre and an artist. Both tutors have been mentoring and tutoring kids from the age of 5-18 years of age. We held two one-hour classes for terms 1, 2, and 3 of 2019. Term 4 both are busy with theatre projects and performing. They also ran workshops for six weeks as part of a mentoring programme. These were free workshops and were specifically aimed at Māori Rangatahi aged 13-18 who were interested in different types of art forms.

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice

We have always wanted to be involved in the community, sharing our passion for theatre. The plan we had for our mentoring programme is a basic outline of what we can do and can be adjusted to suit.
