My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths)

My main creative practice is visual arts using paint. But throughout my creative journey I have used a number of different mediums. This includes photography, printmaking, clay, mosaic and crafting. I also enjoy mixed media and exploring different tools to apply paint to surfaces. Alongside my practice, I also run my own children's art classes. You can view some of the creative work I do with my children online. I've also published numerous kids art and craft articles online.

My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with

I'm a qualified Primary School Teacher, and I've always had a strong focus on the arts and creativity in the classroom. Projects ranged from digital media, stop motion and video work, through to 3D creation and performance arts. I have a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in drama and media studies, and I've completed a Diploma of Creativity at The Learning Connexion. I have sold a number of works through various exhibitions. And most recently, I exhibited and sold a painting at a 2019 exhibition.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes

I'm a qualified Primary School Teacher with over 13 years of classroom experience, working with all ages from 5 to 13 years old. For the last 18 months I've been running my own children's art classes through my home studio.

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice

I'm interested in the Creatives in Schools programme as I believe creativity is so important for our children’s early development. In fact, I would say it’s one of the fundamental building blocks for developing lateral thinking later in life. The ability to solve complex problems, create new, sustainable ways of living, and rethink how we build, create and nurture our world has become a core skill for the next generation.
