Practicing sculptor, working with clay, plaster, metal and found objects, also work in cement over metal armatures. The tactile qualities of these materials make them accessible to students of all ages, fun to experiment with. and for students to find ways to express creative ideas using them. My approach is to facilitate the development of creative process: drawing, looking at and talking about arts and culture, material experimentation, design and making of 3D forms.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes
Tutor in visual arts and design at tertiary level, also weekly clay workshops with people with disabilities.
Voluntary project at local primary school for school centenary, facilitating collaborative work with all children contributing to the project.
Several projects at local high school facilitating year 10 students to develop and make creative projects to enhance the school environment, and project spanning several years working with international students developing and making ceramic tile work, a project that gave the students personal creative expression within a collaborative work.
Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice
I'm interested in how creative expression can improve student well-being for those struggling with things in life. Everyone is creative. Providing opportunities for students to learn skills and processes and encouraging creative expression can grow their self-esteem and self-confidence.
