My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths)

We're a graphic design and illustration studio based in Tauranga. We specialise in the creation of unique brand identities, brand styling, illustration, packaging, signage, and web design. We combine our creative skills with focused marketing strategies and knowledge to deliver top-end design solutions. Producing great designs often comes down to good relationships. We’ve built up solid relationships with our clients because we understand them, we work hard, and we communicate openly. In the past thirteen years we have developed great working relationships with a number of schools in the Bay of Plenty and as far north as Dargaville.

My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with

20 years design and illustration experience, including environmental signage, book illustration, web design, and visual storytelling through design. Numerous branding and creative projects with primary schools across the
Bay of Plenty.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes

Our owner/designer/illustrator has had plenty of experience working with children. He has two children of his own, coaches junior rugby and is always first to put his hand up for school camp. His experience working with schools has allowed him to not only work and collaborate with teachers but also the students. He has worked together with schools facilitating the creative design process. Helping the children research, create, and develop ideas and bring them to life. This can range from getting students involved in school murals, creating and designing their own newsletters, signage, school values, posters, and much more.

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice

We think the world needs more creatives. Working with kids is so much fun and we want to inspire them to use their creative talents and develop new skills. Students will experience what it is like to explore and develop ideas, choose the best idea, and then turn that idea into a finished product. That product could be a number of things, from an illustrated book or poster to a mural or interactive digital experience. What they create will become part of their own story and be viewed and enjoyed by the school community long after they have moved on and they can take new skills to the next stage of their learning.
