I am a multi-disciplined artist. I work with digital media focusing on photo manipulation, blending several images to create a new scene. I create images in the surreal and fantasy and contemporary genres. I also love mixed media and spend a lot of my time working with resin and other mixed media components to create one-off visually enhancing pieces. In my mixed media process, I actively explore processes and products, the science of how they do the things they do, and also how can I make this product better or with day-to-day materials.

I am a practising artist, showing work around New Zealand in galleries and art shows. I have had a Single’s Artist wall at the New Zealand Art Show (which is acceptance only) since 2008. In 2017 I had a successful solo show incorporating digital, visual and installation art. I have been at various art galleries and art shows around New Zealand since 2008, plus other school-based and charity-based art events.
Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes
I currently work with young people at an activity centre. My role there is primarily life skills-based, as I am a chef by trade, and I work with a young person one-on-one in the kitchen. I also have a creative component, albeit a small one, where I take an art or craft session where I encourage the students to be more creative generally working on simple projects that allow them creative freedom with the art supplies we have in our classroom. These your people are all aged 13-16 and are deemed to be at risk socially, behaviourally, and often academically. I have also worked with “Taft” Taranaki Arts Festival Trust with what was the Lantern Festival. In this programme, we went to schools Taranaki-wide with children of varying age groups and helped the children build their lanterns to carry in a local parade. I also built a large (2m x1.5m) lantern of my own for the festival. I have also worked since 2012 with 8-year-old and up in my studios where I have taught craft-based classes using resin.
Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice
I love what I do… I love sharing what I know, in my journey as an artist and as a chef for that matter. I am passionate about the breaking down of how to do creative techniques.
