When I'm available: I can be available during school hours Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday all but the last two weeks of each school term.

Where I'm available: Tasman and Nelson. Other areas I would consider where they fit in with my national performance touring schedule.

My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths)

I write, produce and perform music for children. Often my music features instruments that I have invented, designed and built with a focus on re-using cast away materials and appliances. I visit about 150 schools and EC Centres each year sharing my work with a good dose of humour. I compose and produce music for animated television. I'm fluent in various DAWs (digital audio workstations) and have produced music for stage and also song writing commissions for schools. I run instrument-making workshops for schools and community groups.

Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes

I have taught music to individuals and small groups for 14 years. Ages in these lessons range from 5-70 years but mostly 8-16 year-olds. I have run many instrument-making workshops for schools and community groups at multiple age groups. I have run instrument-making (and performance using the instruments) workshops for primary schools. I have facilitated songwriting workshops in primary schools and sessions for individual students.

Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice

I would like to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme because I have been enjoying working in this field. I see a lot of students who may find their performing arts skills are really useful and valued as part of a future work trajectory so being part of a programme that opens up students to more ideas and possibilities seems a good idea to me.
