My arts or creative practice (including details about my specific focus within that art form/practice and my strengths)
I am specifically interested in telling NZ stories through film and animation. I am currently studying a Bachelor in Design, specialising in Motion Design at Ara. I am in my second year. You can view my work on Instagram.
My track record of experience and success - or the track record of experience and success of the creative or artist that I will partner with
I am currently freelancing motion design work as I study. Predominantly film work. I am the producer for a gallery and have worked with the likes of Mega Air and Fit24 Gym. My short film is currently entered into an NZ film competition and is gaining a lot of interest online. It focuses on mental health issues in youth.
Describe the experience you have had working with children or young people, teaching or facilitating creative processes
I am passionate about working with youth to encourage them that they have a place and a voice in this world. This is my greatest passion next to film. I have worked with the YMCA and various youth groups.
Why I want to be part of the Creatives in Schools programme and how my involvement will link to my creative practice
I am very interested in getting involved in the Creatives in Schools programme as I believe creativity is an innate skill that all humans possess, in varying degrees. I am so passionate about telling stories through film and animation, I would love to pass on the skills I have learned, and help NZ school children to tell their stories in a creative way! My involvement in this project will help me develop new skills to enter into the film industry, so it really is a win-win scenario!
