This is the first time we are holding a Steelband Festival in New Zealand, and are thrilled to have 9 Steelbands taking part, including 3 school Steelbands, from Bream Bay College (Ruakaka), Katikati College and Wesley Intermediate School.
Each band will perform a 20-25 minute repertoire, and we will conclude with a Massed Steelband (steel orchestra) where we all perform 3 songs together as one large band, of up to 80 pan players.
We also have two Steelbands coming over from Australia to perform, and are honoured to also have some great Pan Masters such as Lennox Jordan (Fascinators Down Under / Melbourne Ska Orchestra) and Errol H. Renaud. (Pan player/ singer / songwriter and performer).
Bring your friends and family to this Free event and join in the fun in the sun with some amazing sounds!
There will also be a parade later in the afternoon where the public can join in!
